MILWAUKEE, Dec. 27, 2018 - BrightStar Wisconsin Foundation Inc. today announced that it has invested $150,000 in Alinea Engage. This brings to 46 the number of companies that BrightStar has invested in since it started in February 2014. The total invested in these companies is more than $7 million.
Alinea Engage is a Milwaukee-based company that combines technology and the psychology of health behavior change into a platform that supports patient engagement in multiple ambulatory care markets. The company has identified physical therapy and outpatient rehabilitation as its first target. Its interactive tool brings together practice owners, therapists, office staff and patients with a focus on engagement. The HIPAA-compliant platform streamlines workflow, strengthens the reach and ability of therapists, and improves the patient experience from its first touchpoints to create lifelong loyalty. Alinea Engage is designed to integrate with existing EMRs (electronic medical records), and has partnered with one of the largest post-acute care EMR companies, California-based Casamba LLC, to promote the platform to current and prospective clients.
Hatch, BrightStar’s entrepreneur pitch program, wrapped up the 2018 season in November with three Hatch regional finales. Six entrepreneurs from each region qualified to pitch again and compete for $5,000. The central Wisconsin Hatch regional finale winner was Amira Learning, a Wisconsin Rapids company using artificial intelligence to help teach children how to read. The Chippewa Valley Hatch regional finale winner was Earthbound Environmental Solutions LLC, an Eau Claire company pioneering a residential and commercial curbside organics recycling program. The southeastern Hatch regional finale winner was Quisine, a startup created by three Carthage College students who developed an app that suggests recipes to people based on what ingredients they have in their kitchen.
