The very first commencement ceremony for the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW)-Central Wisconsin will be held May 30 at the Rothschild Pavilion, 1104 Park St. in Rothschild. Thirteen final-year students will receive their medical degrees that day.

MCW-Central Wisconsin is a regional cam- pus based at Aspirus Wausau Hospital that develops community-focused physicians who will meet the healthcare needs of Central Wisconsin and surrounding regions.

In July 2016, MCW-Central Wisconsin matriculated this first class of medical students.

MCW-Central Wisconsin offers a research- backed three-year curriculum. Its Physician in the Community Pathway links their medical education with area healthcare providers to serve the needs of Central Wisconsin.

On Match Day, held March 15, the 13 MCW-Central Wisconsin final-year students were among the estimated 30,000 medical students nationwide to learn where they will serve their postgraduate residency training. Residencies are a minimum of three years.
